Description

Outwood Grange College has recently moved away from a pathways model to a curriculum which offers more flexibility and opportunities for assessment when ready. It incorporates a two year KS3 and longer blocks of time for option subjects in KS4, enabling courses to be designed and studied on a one year model. Furthermore, KS4 options are ‘lined up’ on two days in the week to support delivery of the 14-19 agenda.

Description

Serlby Park has a 3-18 designation formed by an amalgamation three years ago.

Year 7 pursue 33% of their curriculum time with the same teacher, blocked with all other Year 7 classes at the same time. This allows large group context-based teaching when appropriate and also provides a large measure of pastoral security during transition and the opportunity to emphasise PLTs over content coverage.

The school runs a three year KS4 programme in the non-core subjects, with option choices available at end of Y8. Students follow one year courses with the objective of broadening curriculum choice, aiding cost-effectiveness, improving ongoing motivation and allowing students to ‘bank’ qualifications early.
